Climate change has become one of the most significant systemic risks to society, the nature, and the global economy. Its impacts are increasingly reflected in business models, supply chains, access to capital, and long-term competitiveness. It is clear that the climate crisis cannot be addressed effectively without the active involvement of the private sector and without strategic decision-making at the highest level of decision-making.
Investors, regulators, and other key stakeholders are therefore calling ever more strongly on boards to take responsibility and adopt a comprehensive, long-term approach to the green transition. At the same time, many board directors are facing a very practical challenge: how to meaningfully and credibly integrate climate- and nature-related risks and opportunities into corporate strategy, risk management, and decisions on future development.
It was precisely with this purpose in mind that Chapter Zero Slovenia was established in 2023 as the Slovenian Chapter of the global Chapter Zero Alliance, which was founded in 2019 in collaboration with the World Economic Forum. Today, the network spans Chapters in more than 70 countries worldwide and represents a leading international initiative dedicated to strengthening climate governance at board level. Chapter Zero Slovenia was established by the British-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and the Slovenian Directors’ Association, with 2025 PwC Slovenia joining as a leading partner in 2025.
The objective of Chapter Zero Slovenia is to systematically build the capacities of board directors in Slovenia, equipping them with the knowledge and practical tools needed to understand climate-related risks, regulatory expectations, and the strategic opportunities of the green transition. In doing so, Chapter Zero Slovenia aims to support the integration of climate and nature considerations into long-term value creation, resilience, and responsible corporate governance.
